WordCamp Rajasthan 2026 is proud to announce the Puneet Sahalot Memorial Scholarship, an initiative created to honor the life, work, and lasting impact of Puneet Sahalot on the WordPress community in Rajasthan and beyond.
The scholarship will support five emerging members of the WordPress community by helping them attend WordCamp Rajasthan 2026 in Jaipur. Through this initiative, we aim to make it easier for people actively involved in the WordPress community to attend WordCamp, meet fellow contributors, learn from others, and become more involved in the community.
More importantly, this scholarship is about carrying forward Puneet’s belief in people, community, and the opportunities that can come from simply getting involved.
Remembering Puneet Sahalot
Puneet Sahalot was much more than a WordPress community member.
He was an entrepreneur, a visionary thinker, a mentor, and a guiding light for many people in the WordPress ecosystem. His humility, generosity, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to know him.
In 2012, Puneet founded IdeaBox Creations as a one-person venture in Udaipur. At a time when WordPress was still relatively new to many people in smaller cities, he helped introduce and nurture WordPress culture in a Tier III city in Rajasthan.
He also laid the foundation for the Udaipur WordPress Meetup, creating a space where WordPress enthusiasts could meet, learn, share their experiences, and grow together.
For many people, Puneet wasn’t just someone who worked with WordPress. He helped people find their place in the WordPress community.
His untimely passing in 2021 left a void that continues to be felt by the community.
About the Puneet Sahalot Memorial Scholarship
The Puneet Sahalot Memorial Scholarship has been created to keep Puneet’s legacy of supporting and encouraging others alive.
For WordCamp Rajasthan 2026, we will select five scholarship recipients who are new to the WordPress community but are actively getting involved and contributing.
Each selected recipient will receive support covering:
- WordCamp Rajasthan 2026 event ticket
- Accommodation for three nights
- Travel reimbursement
The goal is simple: to help remove practical barriers that can make attending a WordCamp difficult and enable emerging community members to participate in the event.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
WordCamp Rajasthan 2026 Ticket
Each of the five recipients will receive a full event ticket to WordCamp Rajasthan 2026.
This allows scholarship recipients to attend the sessions, meet speakers and contributors, connect with other WordPress professionals and enthusiasts, and become part of the wider WordCamp experience.
Accommodation
Recipients will receive three nights of accommodation on a twin-sharing basis.
This support is intended to make the trip easier for those traveling to Jaipur from outside the city.
Travel Support
Travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
The reimbursement will be capped at the cost of a return 3A train ticket from the recipient’s home city to Jaipur.
This helps us provide meaningful travel support while keeping the scholarship sustainable and accessible to more community members.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is intended for people who are new to the WordPress community and are actively getting involved and contributing in their own way.
We are particularly interested in people who are taking their first steps in the WordPress community, whether through meetups, volunteering, contributing to WordPress, helping others, creating community initiatives, or simply finding meaningful ways to participate.
You don’t need to have years of experience or an impressive list of contributions.
What matters is that you are getting involved, contributing, and showing an interest in being part of the community.
We want to keep the selection process open and community-focused rather than make it about meeting a long list of rigid criteria.

More Than a Ticket to WordCamp
Attending your first WordCamp can be a memorable experience.
It can introduce you to people you’ve only interacted with online. It can help you discover new areas of WordPress. It can lead to collaborations, friendships, mentorship opportunities, and sometimes even completely new career paths.
But travel, accommodation, and ticket costs can make attending a WordCamp difficult, especially for people just starting out.
Puneet understood the importance of giving people a chance.
The scholarship is our way of creating opportunities for the next generation of WordPress community members.

The report will provide relevant details on how the scholarship was supported and how the funds were used.
Transparency is an important part of building trust and ensuring that community-supported initiatives continue to serve the community effectively.
Keeping Puneet’s Legacy Alive
Puneet’s contribution to WordPress wasn’t limited to code, products, businesses, or events.
His biggest contribution was people.
He helped create spaces where people could meet. He encouraged others to learn and grow. He shared his knowledge generously and helped bring WordPress closer to people in Rajasthan.
The Puneet Sahalot Memorial Scholarship is a small way of continuing that work.
It is about giving someone their first opportunity to attend a WordCamp. It is about helping someone discover a community they didn’t know existed. It is about creating connections that might last for years.
And perhaps most importantly, it is about ensuring that the spirit of helping others endures.
In the spirit of WordPress Remembers, Puneet’s contribution continues to be remembered as part of the story of the WordPress project and its community.
