The wait is over. After inviting our WordPress community to design the Wapuu for the first-ever WordCamp Rajasthan, we can finally introduce you to our very own Wapuu Sa!
And what can we say? Our little Wapuu has truly embraced the Rajasthani spirit.
From the colorful pagdi and traditional-inspired outfit to the earrings, mojari-style shoes, and a beautifully decorated camel by his side, every detail has a little story to tell.
So, let’s take a closer look at the newest member of the WordCamp Rajasthan family.
खम्मा घणी, Wapuu Sa!
First things first, why Wapuu Sa?
In Rajasthan, “Sa” (सा) is often added after a person’s name or title to express respect and affection. And we all know how much love the WordPress community has for Wapuu!
So, when our Wapuu came to Rajasthan, he couldn’t simply be Wapuu anymore. He had to become Wapuu Sa. ❤️
And now he’s all dressed up and ready to welcome everyone to the first-ever WordCamp Rajasthan.
म्हारो Wapuu Sa, म्हारो WordCamp! 💙
A Pagdi Full of Rajasthan
Let’s start with the most eye-catching part of the look: the pagdi.
Wapuu Sa is wearing a vibrant, colorful pagdi featuring shades of red, green, yellow, orange, pink, and more. The different layers and patterns give it a festive Rajasthani feel and make sure our Wapuu Sa stands out wherever he goes.
The pagdi isn’t just the finishing touch to the outfit. It’s helping Wapuu Sa look right at home in Rajasthan.
And we have to admit, he wears it rather well! 😄
Dressed in Traditional Rajasthani Style
Wapuu Sa has gone all-in with his WordCamp outfit.
He is wearing a bright red kurta, paired with a flowing light pink dhoti-style lower garment and a green waistband. The combination of bright colors gives the outfit a cheerful, festive look that perfectly suits Rajasthan’s vibrant character.
And then come those shoes!
Wapuu Sa is wearing traditional-style mojari shoes, adding the perfect finishing touch to his outfit.
From his head to his feet, he is ready to say: “पधारो सा!”
A Traditional Touch: The Earrings
Take a closer look at Wapuu Sa, and you’ll notice the traditional earrings adding another beautiful detail to his look.
Jewelry has long been an important part of Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage, and earrings such as gold hoops, balas, and jhumkas are among the traditional styles seen across the region. They can carry cultural, social, and spiritual significance, making them much more than a simple accessory.
For Wapuu Sa, the earrings add another layer of Rajasthani character to the design. Along with the colorful pagdi, traditional outfit, and mustache, they help bring the entire look together.
And That Mustache!
Of course, we can’t forget the mustache.
Wapuu Sa’s cheerful mustache gives him a little extra personality and adds another recognizable touch to his Rajasthani-inspired look.
Meet Wapuu Sa’s Travel Companion 🐪
The camel!
A Rajasthani-inspired Wapuu wouldn’t feel quite complete without one.
The camel is closely associated with Rajasthan’s desert landscapes, culture, traditions, and everyday life. So naturally, Wapuu Sa needed a camel companion for his journey to WordCamp Rajasthan.
But just like Wapuu Sa, this camel isn’t here in an ordinary way.
It’s dressed up for WordCamp too!
Look closely at the camel’s saddle.
It’s covered in bright red and orange patterns, colorful borders, decorative details, and a beautiful WordPress logo right in the center.
We absolutely love this little detail.
The camel brings the Rajasthani side of the story, while the WordPress logo brings in the community we’re all here to celebrate.
Together, they create a simple but meaningful connection between Rajasthan and WordPress.
And if you ask us, this camel looks quite ready for WordCamp too! 🐪
Look at Those Details!
The camel’s decorations don’t stop at the saddle.
It also has colorful decorative bands around its neck and head, along with a decorated bridle and reins. The patterns and colors complement Wapuu Sa’s outfit, making the two look like they belong together.
It feels almost as if Wapuu Sa and his camel have just arrived from a Rajasthani celebration and decided to drop by WordCamp.
अरे वाह, Wapuu Sa! क्या बात है!
When Rajasthan Meets WordPress
And that’s what makes this Wapuu special.
It’s not simply a mascot wearing traditional clothes. The design brings together two very different but equally important parts of this event:
the spirit of Rajasthan and the spirit of WordPress.
The colorful pagdi, traditional-inspired clothing, earrings, mojari-style shoes, mustache, and camel bring Rajasthan into the design.
The WordPress logo, meanwhile, reminds us of the community, creativity, collaboration, and open-source spirit that bring us together.
Put them together, and you get Wapuu Sa.
A little bit Rajasthani. A little bit WordPress. And completely ready for WordCamp Rajasthan! 💙
A Special Wapuu for a Special WordCamp
This isn’t just another WordCamp.
It’s the first-ever WordCamp Rajasthan.
That makes Wapuu Sa a small but important part of our community’s history.
Wapuus have become a beloved part of WordCamps around the world, with communities creating their own versions inspired by their local culture, people, traditions, and surroundings.
Now, it’s Rajasthan’s turn.
We wanted our Wapuu to feel warm, colorful, welcoming, and connected to the place where we’re bringing the WordPress community together.
And that’s exactly what we see in Wapuu Sa.
From a Community Call to Wapuu Sa
This Wapuu also represents our community’s creativity.
When we announced the Call for Wapuu Design, we invited designers, illustrators, artists, and Wapuu fans to imagine what the WordCamp Rajasthan Wapuu could look like.
We asked you to bring your creativity to the table and give Wapuu a Rajasthani touch. And now, that idea has become a reality.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and shared their creativity with us. Your enthusiasm helped make this part of our WordCamp journey even more special.
